Detailed Information for the Wyoming Adventure

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationThis trip is for experienced riders only. This is real cattle work so the days will start before dawn and end after dark with many hours in the saddle. Riding in the high Rocky Mountains can sometimes be along challenging trails. The night we camp out in the mountains you will be sleeping on the ground under the stars with the only equipment and provisions being what you bring on your horse and in your saddle bags. You should independently be able to take care of yourself and your horse. You should be able to mount unassisted from the ground. It’s ok to find a nearby rock or log to help you mount, but you should be able to take care of this by yourself.

We’ll take the first twenty guests who send in their total trip fee and reservation form. Cost of this adventure is $2,500 per person. This fee includes some meals, ranch host fee and fee to our licensed Wyoming outfitter who will be providing packing and guiding services for us when we are in the National Forest lands.

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationMeals included in the fee are:
Friday and Saturday – lunch and dinner
Tuesday - dinner
Wednesday – breakfast and lunch

Expenses not included in the fee:

Travel to and from Wyoming
Overnight lodging except for Tuesday night when we will be camping on the mountain. For lodging we recommend The Z Bar Cabins and Motel in Buffalo. Their accommodations are very nice with beautiful views of the mountains. They are offering our group a 10% discount on cabins or rooms. In order to receive the lodging discount you must make your reservation by telephone only, calling the Z Bar Motel at 888-313-1227 toll free or 307-684-5535. The discount is not available when making reservations via internet. There are also a variety of national chain and other motels in Buffalo and nearby Sheridan

You are on your own for making your lodging reservations.

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationYou are on your own for all meals except those listed above. For lunches on the trail that we do not provide, you should bring a water bottle or canteen, energy or granola bars, nuts, fruit, and other food items which will fit in your saddle bag and not spoil during the day. Each morning when you leave your cabin or motel you should stop for breakfast at a local café. The café may be able to prepare a sandwich or something for you to bring along for lunch as well.

You will drive your vehicle to and from the ranch and your cabin or motel each day. The ranch is a ten minute drive from Buffalo, Wyoming where you will be staying each night. We will meet at the ranch each day at 7:00 AM to begin the day’s activities. After you register for the adventure we will give you the ranch address so you can drop off your horses there on Thursday afternoon 26 July and meet us there to begin our activities on Friday morning 27 July.

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationYou may leave your horses and horse trailer at the ranch. You may camp at the ranch in a tent or in your horse trailer but there are no electrical or water hook-ups available at the ranch. There will be porta-potties available at the ranch.

For participants who do not choose to bring your own horse,we will have some good ranch horses for rent. The rental horses will be fully tacked up with saddle and bridle or you may ride them with your own tack. We do not have a firm rental fee for these horses at this time but it will be between $300 and $400 for the whole six days of our event.

If you are flying you should fly into Billings, MT or Denver, CO then rent a car and drive to Buffalo, WY. Billings is the closest airport which is about a two hour drive. If there is available trailer space, we can transport your gear and horse for you for $750 round trip.

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationFor participants who will be bringing their own horse and driving to Wyoming from the eastern United States, we will organize a convoy of trucks and trailers to travel together for the three days of driving to and from Wyoming. We will arrange for stables each night along the way where we will leave our horses overnight while we stay in our trailers or a local motel. Allow 3 ½ days for travel each way.  This means we will leave Georgia on Monday morning July 23rd and arrive in Wyoming on Thursday afternoon July 26th.  We’ll leave Wyoming on Friday morning August 3rd arriving back in Georgia on Monday afternoon August 6th.
If you want to bring your own horse and ride along with the convoy but you do not have your own truck and trailer, we can probably arrange a ride for you and your horse with one of the trucks. Cost for hauling you, your gear and your horse would be $750 for the round trip.

Wyoming Cowboy Adventure VacationWe will coordinate all details of the trip including en route accommodations and overnight horse boarding.  Our staff of trainers who are all experienced with cross-country horse hauling will be traveling along with the convoy to assist with the unique requirements of long distance horse hauling. Participants will be responsible for their own travel, meals and horse feed and board expenses en route to and from Wyoming.  During the drive or in Wyoming we will be happy to assist you with any horse training needs.  For more information please contact us at 770-314-9254 or ed@eddabney.com .
